This Christmas, the greeting card sent from the White House has become an issue in the news - and not because it was from the president to 1.4 million of his closest friends - but because it left out one important word: Christmas.

Many people weren't at all happy with this card. The majority of these unhappy people were Christians, the same faith as President Bush. I am a Christian, too, but I wasn't offended. I think President Bush was trying to respect people who have different beliefs and was being sensitive to other religions.

However, when you don't acknowledge a holiday that is observed by a majority of Americans, some of those people may feel they are being forced away from celebrating Christmas.

If you look past the religion part of this controversial card and look at the presidential greeting cards Bush released during past Christmases, you will find none of them mentioned the word Christmas.

President Abraham Lincoln once said: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."
