What an hour! Koppel and Brokaw are two of the most articulate and well-informed men in the media. And their opinions and ruminations on the state of the country and the world were riveting for clarity, compassion and "smarts."

Koppel, now retired from "Nightline" and wondering what to do next, in particular is a man who has done his homework. He thinks before he speaks and speaks with an authority that is both commanding and comforting. Brokaw stands tall as a formidable, trustworthy and appealing public presence.

Ted and Tom, these two grand "old" men of news, played off each other brilliantly. I think they should join up, create a show, and give cable TV some classy competition.

JUST THE other day, former first lady invited a dozen friends over to her Bel Air, Calif., manse for holiday drinks and cheer. Guests were moved by the fact that Nancy's marvelous tree was decorated with wonderful vintage ornaments she and her late husband, , had collected over the many years of their marriage. Nancy had total recall for each decoration: the year, the time, the place they came from.

If the matters of today's political world concern you, has provided "Syriana." , in this vein, offers the tense thriller "Munich." (And I'm just asking, why isn't , who stole "Troy" from , a huge star?) "Munich," like almost everything, would benefit by some trimming.
