As friends and family celebrated the New Year in the Hudson Valley and around the country, tens of thousands of US military personnel continue to serve overseas with emphasis on Iraq and Afghanistan.

The New York Air National Guard’s 105 th Military Air Wing at Stewart Airport in Newburgh has been flying its routine humanitarian missions around the globe, but has also been involved in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters.
